While listening to Sr. Sangma on his grand vision for NE, his thoughts reflect his capability to think beyond
the possible horizon that a common man could forsee. After few pegs down, which we both had, he completely mesmerised me with his dream about creating a grand assembly of NE region, similar to European Union! By the time we finished our evening with a simple NE style dinner, I was convinced that his grand dream may not come true in his life time but if it works out even in next 50 to 100 years, it would be great.
Another aspect that I like about his personality was his humility in conceding his vices. He himself was in his elementary best when he conceded that 'egos' of political leaders in NE would never allow a united forum to debate and discuss such 'foresighted thoughts'. But I am convinced that his dream, his vision of such a grand assembly may come true in future- I pray!

... By the time, I left his hotel and reach my home I was far more convinced about his 'gift of gab', 'his articulation' and ' his vision'.... It won't be wrong to call him the tallest of all NE leaders. Sr. Sangma, to me, is like a trunk of big tree around which different kinds of 'beautiful wild orchids' are growing- some blooming and some yet-to-bloom.
One of the blomming beautiful orchids, is Agatha. It was a joy to interact with Agatha. To observe Agatha's curiosity and eagerness
to pick up the nuances of culture in a new place was a delightful experience. She is young yet every measured words that she spoke, reflects a lot about her personality...She may look calm and gentle and may be of few words yet in every words and thoughts she expressed radiates energy and, believe me, that energy could be contagious! Good that in NE, we have one young lady who left her corporate career to serve the people... I wish SANGMAs all the luck!
Hmmm...first, please get a set of new spectacles!! lol
ReplyDeleteI like the 1st photograph It makes Mr.Sangma look some how vulnerable, like a grandfather who's kind of struggling to keep his family together. I've meet him a couple of times, very down to earth as are his sons.
About Agatha, she still has to prove that she's more than just his daughter.
Keep writing, will keep reading :)
do keep giving valuable suggestions too, do not just be a reader!
ReplyDeletehe does look vulnerable in the first picture and if the unexpected is to be expected, we might just see some contemptuous remarks on him with this picture taken for a shoulder to fire upon his credibility regarding his run for the office of the president. Not that it's that much big of a deal but we all know how Indian media works; creating mess out of thin air. just a thought. you see, wolf is always at the door.
ReplyDeleteby the way, it will be nice to read the conversation between you and him somewhere. best wishes !
