Of Chefs and “Adhocism Recipe”

“Adhocism” is the key ingredient for the perfect doomsday recipe for Arunachal Pradesh .

All troubles including the recent fracas between students’ community and the government’s arms have its roots in the “Adhocism” meaning unplanned approaches, adopted in diverting the funds. The societal development funds are shipped-away to make-up for personal development.  In Arunachal, one shall need a new generation calculators since fingers and toes won’t suffice to count. Thereby, assets remain on papers despite huge public expenditures. If that is not the case, the least that happens is the third-grade works executed to collapse in few quarters of a year. Take for example the public roads including National Highway 52A.

Chefs of the “adhocism recipe” are those elected representatives and selected political appointees to government or quasi-government high offices. They use their good offices as “license to indulge in their pursuit for gratification”. That irks; not their appointment to high offices.

When questions are raised on such issues, stoic silence is maintained by the government. That is interpreted as denial of “right to know”- a fundamental right to the citizens. Cascading effect emerge into a semantic distance and feeling of alienation, away from government and governance. Thereafter, there’s no end to human emotions of being left in the open as preys, with law-makers as predators. Once in the grip of victimhood syndrome, there’s no end to confrontation.

Dishing out adhocism is a decade old practice which is cancerously ingrained in the polity and governance in Arunachal Pradesh. Even those who are raising banner of revolt have been party to it and have been beneficiaries in recent past, not so long ago.

The present incumbent alone can’t be blamed for Adhocism. For today and tomorrow, there’s always a reference point as benchmark, there’s always a precedence to be quoted. If Tuki is guilty of anything then it is just a question of morality for not attempting to weed out the same, not even for failing. However, given the practicality of the political situation, Tuki has no reason to be on moral high ground or even to attempt the climbs. It just suits him, perfectly.
